I am getting very excited about our yearly Morocco Yoga Retreat.

Some of you have been before and for some this will be a new experience so I thought I wanted to share a few things with you.

Before you go:

Make sure your passport is valid for 6 months after arriving in Morocco – this is their general requirement.

Bring clothes for all weather. Last two years we did experience some cooler morning/evenings (we like to practise yoga outdoors!). Especially for the November dates. So bringing a sweater, layers or a shawl might be good. Although this year it looks like its going to be HOT – so also bring light materials. Morocco is a Muslim country and generally people are conservative in what they wear especially out and about e.g. for walks or visits to Marrakech. But at the hotel you can definitely wear your swimming costume, a summer dress or shorts and enjoy the sunshine.

Arriving in RAK – Marrakech.

Transfers to Tigmi. It is about 30 minutes outside Marrakech and it does feel like you are taken to somewhere off the beaten track. The drivers can usually speak French but not much, if any, English. They are always chosen very carefully by Tigmi. We will email before a retreat to check in with you if you have arranged transfers already or we will liaise with Tigmi and their lovely drivers.

You need the address of TIGMI as you arrive in Morocco – this is a requirement at the airport/security control. So keep that with you in the plane.

At Tigmi.

This is such a calm relaxing place. Away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy it. There is a swimming pool, lots of little terraces and gardens. So you can be secluded or social as you wish. I highly recommend that you make your bookings for the Hammam: for massages and treatments, washing and scrubs. (this is not included in the price but worth the extra expense). For the Hamman you can wear a bikini/shorts/rolled down swimming costume/bikini pants.

There are mats at Tigmi. The quality range from very used to slightly newer ones. As it is not a yoga retreat centre the mats are left by previous teachers/students so if you are very picky about mats bring your own. As an update Tigmi now have more mats, blocks and some amazing bolsters (you might want to get an order in for some weaved moroccan bolster covers when you are there…).

Yoga Classes will take place on the roof terrace about the outdoor eating area. We will stretch out after travelling and create some calm in body and mind.

Yoga Workshop

We have previously offered a workshop to get into the fundamentals and alignment of the yoga practise. We are likely to enjoy this on Saturday late morning.

Out and about

If you do choose to visit Marrakech for shopping, or a more relaxing visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Gardens perhaps consider doing it before the retreat starts or plan it so it flow with the rest of your intentions for the retreat.

I can’t wait to see you at Tigmi!
