Due to the current situation with Covid-19, lockdowns and tier system we are offering the Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training via Zoom to the Yoga Alliance Professionals high standards. This course includes a one-to-one mentoring session with me to make sure you feel fully heard and can ask any questions or practice teaching skills.

Support your pregnant yoga students

Learn to support your pregnant yoga students and create yoga classes specifically for pregnant yoginis safely, with educated awareness and creativity.

It can be daunting when a pregnant woman comes into your class. Most of us aren’t educated to understand the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy. Let alone how to safely teach a pregnant person – without either ignoring any essential modification or being excessively “safe”.

This course will give you the confidence to create inspired, uplifting, calming and encouraging pregnancy yoga classes or alternatively integrate a pregnant woman into your regular class or work with her one-to-one.

The journey to motherhood is a very special time in a woman’s life. And her body changes as she is growing a baby/babies, placenta and preparing for labour and birth.

Yoga can be a supporting and powerful practice during the journey to motherhood. To prepare for pregnancy, during pregnancy and for postpartum healing.

This course gives you the knowledge so you can confidently start to

  • integrate pregnant students into your class
  • teach special pregnancy yoga classes
  • one-to-ones for pregnant women

Over two weekends live via zoom, with some homework and an online portal with yoga videos and lectures you will learn:

  • To create safe, uplifting and encouraging pregnancy classes or one-to-ones
  • To modify yoga poses for the pregnant body
  • Sun salutation and flow during pregnancy
  • How yoga can support during pregnancy, labour and birth
  • To confident teach pelvic floor awareness and practices
  • The ayurvedic and energetic aspects of pregnancy
  • How to practise mudra, pranayama, meditation and shavasana with your pregnant students
  • The common complaints and contraindications in pregnancy
  • To practically teach and plan pregnancy yoga classes
  • Have an experienced midwife coming in as a guest lecture sharing anatomy and physiology in pregnancy
  • Experience pregnancy yoga classes taught to you as a student

Anja was absolutely fantastic, as a teacher and as a trainer. Her relaxed demeanour allows her students to embrace the new information, ask questions and generally feel comfortable throughout the course. I highly recommend Anja as a trainer as she teaches with compassion, respect and patience. You will receive a pre-reading list and access to an online learning portal to begin your learning.

You are encouraged to observe 3 live pregnancy yoga classes (if not possible watch pregnancy yoga videos) before the course.

Be prepared for some homework including reading. You will receive an extensive manual including photos of prenatal yogasana.

This course is open for all qualified yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainees interested in being educated on how to teach pregnant students either safely in class or creating specific pregnancy yoga classes. 

Midwives, doulas and birth professionals with yoga experience are welcome to join too to receive a certificate of attendance (it takes at least 200 hours to become a yoga teacher. Prenatal yoga is an additional speciality training. You will not certify as a prenatal yoga teacher). This training can inform and inspire your current professional work. If you are not a yoga teacher already we expect you to have a good insight into yoga poses and some yoga philosophy.

About your main teacher Anja Brierley Lange of yogaembodied

I’ve been teaching yoga since 2005 (first graduating in 1998) and soon started to specialise in women’s health, pregnancy and postnatal yoga. My passion led me to co-create, teach and be the course leader on a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training Course in London for several years.

I am delighted to update and give birth to this new Prenatal Course certified by Yoga Professionals UK.

Teaching is a never-ending journey of research, training and practice. I am continuing my professional education being an Ayurvedic Practitioner (BSc, PGDip) which inform my yoga teaching and my approach to pregnancy yoga, specific pregnancy and postnatal trainings with Shiva Rea, Uma Dinsmore Tuli, Birthright and Claire Missingham. Completed various courses including a doula training with Michel Odent and Female Pelvic Floor Training for Birth and Wellness Practitioners.

I have offered classes and private sessions in exclusive spas and members clubs in Chelsea and Knightsbridge to hip studios in East London and community rooms South of the river. Now I am based in Worthing and share my passions by the sea.

Yoga is such an empowering tool during the journey to motherhood. To prepare for pregnancy, during pregnancy and postpartum. To see a woman feeling more confident, trusting her body and getting stronger, stabile yet more flexible in both body, mind and emotions through her yoga practice is why I love what I do.
